Stainless steel bearings offer numerous advantages not only due to stringent manufacturing processes and precision requirements, but also because of the superior quality of the material itself. When selecting materials, we primarily consider the working environment and usage conditions of the stainless steel bearing.

If we are selecting stainless steel bearings for use in corrosive environments, in addition to a detailed understanding of the specific operating conditions, the main factors to consider include: the corrosion resistance, strength, toughness, and other physical properties of the stainless steel bearing; furthermore, processing and forming performance, resources, price, and ease of sourcing should also be considered.

The corrosion resistance of stainless steel bearings mainly refers to their rust resistance and resistance to corrosive media such as acids, alkalis, and salts, as well as their resistance to oxidation, sulfidation, chlorination, and fluorination at high temperatures. We need to understand that different bearing operating environments require different materials to address various corrosion problems encountered in actual engineering projects. Therefore, the corrosion resistance of stainless steel in corrosive environments is the first consideration for material selection technicians.

The corrosion resistance of stainless steel bearings is relative and subject to certain conditions. The stainless steel properties we commonly refer to as rust-proof and corrosion-resistant are relative to rusting and non-corrosion resistance, and are determined under specific conditions, including environmental media, concentration, temperature, impurities, pressure, and flow rate.

To ensure the good performance of stainless steel bearings, material selection must consider not only their resistance to general corrosion but also their resistance to localized corrosion. For example, when stainless steel bearings are used in aqueous or chemical media, the latter requires even greater attention.
